Can anyone tell me how hard or easy it is to learn how to bartend? There are quite a few jobs for bartending here in my home town. I really want to do it but no experience. What are your recomandations... Laughing Idea Question [/quote:9714c6c3ef]

In my opinion stay away from bartending schools. Anyone can learn how to make a drink. What makes a bartender is the personality and the ability to handle stress in a high pressure work envioirment. If you want to learn how to make drinks read a book. If you want to know how to bartend without any experince, start as a waiter or cocktail waitress. Spend time in the bar and pracitce upselling your customers only so you'll better familiarize yourself with dfferent liqour. And work hard, and be honest.

I love hearing all these ignorant people try and say don't go to a bartending school waste of time. Worth every bit of the time you put into it go as hard as you can and be a sponge I have been doing Bar Evaluations for 7 years and have been Bartending much longer and its embarrassing what these bartenders don't know.
Or you could just walk into a bar and say "Hey Bar owner I would love to come waste all of your alcohol trying to figure some of this out or go to a controlled environment like a Bartending School and Learn behind closed doors not embarrassing yourself in front of customers lol

Bartending school isn't necessary but that does not mean that you won't learn from schooling. You can learn a lot from it so I would suggest you enroll in a program (can be online or offline) and you should also find a good mentor or have some apprenticeship . For more info, you can go ahead and see http://www.trainedbartender.com/

I have seen this bartending school "The Ultimate Guide for Bartenders". This is nice. Can I join here?
